The Library of Congress

The Library of Congress made a formal request for Dr. Deming's professional papers soon after his death. They were donated by The W. Edwards Deming Institute and are available at the Manuscript Division of the Library in Washington, D. C. It is a large collection that contains notes, correspondence and the drafts of Out of the Crisis and The New Economics.

To access the Deming Papers at the Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress, please go to http://www.loc.gov/rr/mss/. The division’s policies and procedures are located on the site. To consult the Deming finding aid, please click on “Finding Aids” on the left column and select Deming from the alphabetical list to see a PDF version.

The Deming Papers are stored offsite. A researcher must identify the containers he would like to use, then state the dates of his visit to the Library and request the containers that he wishes to consult. Please telephone the Manuscript Reading Room at 202-707-5387 or by email at mss@loc.gov. Please allow a week for delivery.

The Institute has available annually five travel grants for study at the Library. Visit our The Library of Congress Application page for more details.
